Waltham, Mass., Jan.
24, 2001 -- This 8 channel, rack mount signal processor is designed for
the professional and semi-professional musician/engineer/producer requiring
high quality signal processing and demanding unparalleled real-time control.
It is the world's only 8-channel multi-effects processor with more than
twice the processing power of Kurzweil's KDFX system. The Kurzweil KSP8
includes all the high-quality effects algorithms from KDFX, and adds surround
reverbs and other new effects.
The KSP8 breaks through traditional barriers and delivers with a wide
range of flexibility. The base unit comes with 4 analog (balanced 1/4
inch TRS) inputs and outputs, and stereo AES/EBU in and out, for a total
of 6 possible channels. An I/O option slot provides a choice of expanding
with 4 additional channels of analog I/O or 8 channels of Alesis Lightpipe
I/O, Tascam TDIF, or AES/EBU I/O. Inputs and outputs may be flexibly routed.
24 bit precision is maintained throughout. The unit offers a selectable
master clock, 2 channels of dedicated EQ on each input and can process
8 mono channels of audio simultaneously, making the KSP 8 an ideal tool
for today’s MDM based studios.
The KSP8 is ready for 5.1 and 7.1 surround sound authoring. Each of the
8 inputs can be positioned in a common environment. In addition the KSP8
allows for up to 40 parameters to be controlled in real-time via MIDI.
The extensive list of DSP algorithms include lush reverbs, realistic rooms,
throaty flangers, dreamy choruses, grunged up distortion, aliasing and
chaos generators, rotary speakers, cabinet simulators, Lazerverbs, a full
range of dynamics processors, enhancers, many types of EQs, filters and
so much more. There are many tempo based effects which can slave to MIDI
clock or are controlled form the internal clock.
Most importantly, the KSP8 is easy to use, providing quick access to signal
routing and the most common effects parameters. The KSP8 is a 2U-rack
module with a 240 X 64 CCFT backlit display. It provides an expandable
design, including an optional remote control. Preset storage and OS updates
can be handled through MIDI and Smart Media Cards.
