Midiman Licenses Digital Harmony 1394 DHIVA Technology

Seattle, Wash., Feb. 09, 2001 -- Midiman and Digital Harmony Technologies, Inc. announced today a licensing agreement that gives Midiman access to Digital Harmony's IEEE-1394 DHIVA.... technology for use in their full range of digital interface products.

Digital Harmony’s 1394 solution will allow Midiman to significantly reduce development time by easily adding a standards-compliant 1394 interface to their M-Audio line of digital audio products. 1394 provides 400Mbits / sec bandwidth, isochronous audio transmission, and the ability to simultaneously send and receive 24-bit / 96kHz audio plus MIDI data over a single cable. M-Audio’s 1394 devices will eliminate the trouble of juggling IRQ's while installing a PCI or EISA interface card. Portable computer users will replace fragile and cumbersome rack-mounted expansion bays with a lightweight 1394-enabled interface.

"M-Audio is committed to bringing 1394 solutions to market," says Tim Ryan, president of Midiman Inc, the parent company of M-Audio. "We appreciate the technology Digital Harmony brings to the table, and we believe they will make a great contribution to our development of 1394 products." "We are thrilled to add Midiman to our growing family of licensees and partners,"” said Greg Bartlett, president of Digital Harmony. "Midiman is an innovative market leader in professional interfaces with aggressive plans to bring 1394 products to that market."
