Understanding of Music Seminar Comes to Los Angeles February 23 – 25th

Los Angeles, Calif., Feb. 05, 2001 -- Duncan Lorien, renowned composer, recording artist, producer (EMI, Polygram, Chappell) and cofounder of the European and South African Arts Festivals, will present his internationally famous The Understanding of Music Seminar in Los Angeles on February 23, 24 and 25th. The hands-on seminar turns novices into musicians and takes professionals to new heights of creativity in only one weekend.

Lorien’s revolutionary approach to playing, reading and composing music is transforming modern music education and instruction. In only two and a half days, attendees learn how to play and memorize all scales, modes, chords and inversions on the keyboard and guitar, apply the data to any other instrument--including voice, and sight read music for any instrument.

“There is a lot of unnecessary seriousness and complexity in contemporary musical education,” says Lorien. “My mission in this area, which began 30 years ago, is to make music accessible to everyone.”

So innovative and successful are Lorien’s learning techniques, his seminar has been in constant demand all over the world, attracting professionals from all musical styles, including many well-known rock and jazz musicians, as well as college instructors, teachers and novices without any prior musical training.

Born in London, Lorien studied classical piano from the age of 4. While in college he also studied drama, and trained in opera and theatre. He has worked as a session keyboard player and producer for EMI, Polygram, Chappell and other major recording companies. His publishing and recording deals have culminated in successful albums that have topped the charts and overtaken artists such as Yanni, Rick Wakeman, Tangerine Dream and Andy Summers of The Police.

The Understanding of Music Seminar will take place in Los Angeles on February 23rd beginning at 6:30 p.m., and continue through the weekend. Seating is limited and advanced registration is required. The seminar fee is $395.00 and includes all course materials. To register, or for more information on Duncan Lorien or The Understanding of Music Seminar contact Dawn Chaban at 323-669-1739.
