The Logic Control base unit has eight 100mm motorized, touch-sensitive Penny and Giles faders as well as Mackie’s rotary V-Pots, transport and jog shuttle wheel controls. Logic Control provides hands-on adjustment of hundreds of MIDI and audio functions, including the all-new automation system in Logic Audio 5. It offers simultaneous control over multiple parameters of software instruments and plug-ins for unmatched real-time creativity. Via bank-switching, it can address as many as 128 Logic Audio channels.

Up to two Logic Control XT extender fader packs can be added for 24 simultaneous motorized fader controls.

Both the base and extender units use Penny and Giles’ first digital/optical motorized fader design. “Penny and Giles are the undisputed leaders in motorized faders for high-end recording consoles,” said Product Manager Keith Olsen, “Working together with Mackie, Penny and Giles created a new generation of digital/optical fader with the same high 1024-step resolution as their best analog faders — and of course the same silky feel and smooth operation.” According to Olsen, other fader packs on the market only use 128-, 256- or 512-step faders.

Logic Control is connected to the host Logic Audio PC or Mac via a MIDI cable and is automatically “recognized” by Logic Audio. Dedicated sections including transport controls, cursor keys, automation and function modes ensure optimal interaction with Logic Audio, straight out of the box. For users who wish to customize their Logic Audio workstations, Logic Audio 5 offers the unique ability to freely assign the faders, knobs and switches of Logic Control to any Logic Audio function accessible as a Key Command. This drag and drop assignment is via a new Controller Assignment window within Logic Audio 5.

Suggested retail pricing for the Logic Control base unit is $799 U.S. No price has yet been set for the XT extender fader pack. Logic Control is slated to ship within the next 120 days.
