HAMBURG, Germany (Jul. 02, 2002) -- Steinberg, creator of the music recording and editing programs Cubase SX and Nuendo, wasted no time in preparing a "crossgrade" program to Cubase SX from Emagic's Logic following the announcement that Apple Computer was buying Emagic and suspending Windows development of the program in September.

Steinberg also used the opportunity to affirm its support for the Mac platform and its commitment to a multiplatform strategy. [an error occurred while processing this directive] Here is Steinberg's announcement:

With regards to the recent announcement of Apple's acquisition of Emagic Software GmbH, Steinberg Media Technology AG make no disguise of their surprise at this move.
Steinberg see themselves as the pioneers of true cross platform development and also a driving force behind establishing the PC platform as one that is every bit as capable as any other in providing the hardware for professional Music and Audio Production.

Steinberg has no intention of moving away from the Mac platform and is continuing developments for the Mac OS. With Cubase SX Steinberg continues the multi platform strategy supporting Windows XP and Mac OS X. The always friendly and productive team work with the Apple developers will hopefully continue in the future.

Steinberg is pleased to offer a unique, time-limited offer for all registered Logic users who would like to switch to Cubase SX for PC - the Competitive Crossgrade Offer for only Euro 299,-/USD 299,-. Until the end of September, Steinberg would like to offer a way to make a low-cost, uncomplicated change to Steinberg's professional software for music production for anyone who has been using any of the Silver, Gold or Platinum versions. Users are welcome to keep their Logic software.
