![]() TC Electronic Announces PowerCore FireWire RISSKOV, Denmark (Mar. 05, 2003) -- TC Electronic has announced PowerCore FireWire, a new version of its PowerCore audio processing platform that is designed for FireWire-equipped laptop or desktop systems. This addition offers almost twice the power of the PCI-card version, the company says. PowerCore Firewire opens the platform to mobile musicians and producers, notes Ralf Schluenzen, CEO of TC Works. All signal processing is performed on the PowerCore unit, freeing up host performance resources for virtual instruments or native plug-ins. The hardware specifications go beyond those of the original card, featuring faster DSPs, a faster PowerPC and three times the amount of RAM per DSP. PowerCore Firewire is the new top-of-the-line PowerCore product, according to Product Manager John Epperson. PowerCore Firewire is fully compatible with PowerCore PCI -- in fact, PowerCore FireWire and PowerCore PCI can be used simultaneously in the same system.
