Westlake Village, CA (Apr. 13, 2004) --

360 Systems’ has announced that MXF networking over Gigabit Ethernet is now available on its Image Server 2000. MXF, also known as Material eXchange Format, is a “file wrapper” that standardizes the way audio, video, and other information is arranged for network transport, making it possible for program content to be shared between different equipment.

The Image Server 2000 can perform high-speed FTP transfers between other Image Servers, Network Attached Storage, edit workstations, new MXF compliant recorders like Sony’s E-VTR, and other models of servers.

The Image Server’s transmission of MXF files over Gigabit Ethernet results in an unprecedented ease of distribution at very low cost. Applications include networking together of servers for ingest, clip prep, archive storage, and play-to-air. Broadcasters can easily use the Image Server as a “Video Fax” machine to transfer promos, spots, and news stories over DSL telecom lines.

The Image Server 2000 has won broad acceptance because of its 3-channel capability, extensive feature set, networking, and 100-hour storage capacity. The $10,000 to $12,000 price tag sets a new standard for the best cost-per-hour for broadcast storage, and for the best price for each video stream.

360 Systems is celebrating its 33rd year serving broadcast and commercial markets. For further information, visit www.360systems.com.
