23, 2000 -- Fostex recently topped its line of hard disk recorders with
the introduction of the D-2424. Debuting at the 2000 AES Show in Los Angeles,
the recorder /editor offers a number of high performance features and
functions including 24-bit / 96kHz record / reproduce and 128 times over
sampling AD/DA. The unit features 24 tracks with 32 virtual tracks for
a total of 56 tracks.
"The new D-2424 is the flagship of our digital multitracker product
group," says Rick Cannata, professional products manager for Fostex
US. "To address professional requirements, the D-2424 offers a Time
Code package which includes a generator reader, optional 4.7GB DVD-RAM
backup, eight channel AES/EBU interface. The full-featured D2424 should
lend itself nicely for use in post production and professional recording
environments."
The unit offers unlimited UNDOs, COPY/PASTE between programs, a dedicated
ALL INPUT key and much more. New features also include Auto EE mode to
automatically activate ALL Input Monitor at Stop mode and a MARK Stop
function that stops a song at a designated locate point. A foot switch
has also been added to remotely Punch In/Out as well as an extension slot
for an Ethernet card.
The copy, cut, paste, move and erase functions have 99 times repeatable
levels of undo. The direct locate function is accessed via the PREV/NEXT
key to automatically locate memory points from 00 to 99. The Sync To Video
function allows system integration with various video editors complying
with RS-422, P2 protocol.
The independent Time Code generator function may be designated to any
Time Code address. Pre or post stripe and jam sync is also available.
Time Code frame rates include: 24, 25, 30ND, 30DF, 29.97ND and 29.97DF.
The removable front panel also serves as a full function remote offering
compatibility with video editors and other professional tools. For custom
applications, the unit can also be ordered without the hard drive. To
offer a more professional appearance, the chassis color is black.
Optional accessories include the 8345 Time Code option for video editing,
8350 eight-channel AES/EBU card and 9044 DVD-RAM drive.
