GT
Electronics AM62. The large diaphragm studio condenser provides
four polar pattern choices
|
Santa Monica, Calif.,
August 8, 2000 -- As GT Electronics approaches its second year, the new
AM Series microphones are striking a chord with vintage mic advocates.
Robin Hood Brians, vintage mic owner and recording engineer for ZZ Top,
recently revealed,
"I recently tested the GT Electronics AM40 tube mics on some guitar
amps. The AM40 was bright and clean, but maintained a human feel and warmth
compared to many other small diaphragms. All of this 'human warmth' is
very important when you're using digital effects and processors."
Brians isn't the only vintage mic advocate praising the quality of the
AM Series. Jim Chapdelaine, producer for the Feathermerchants and Hassan
Hakmoun, related, "I used the AM62 for several jingles and album
projects, including a new U.S. Census Bureau commercial."
"The vocalists consistently chose the AM62 from a group that included
several mics ranging from $4000.00 to $6000.00. I've also used the AM62
($1499 USD MSRP) to record baritone sax and clarinet with great results.
As an avid user and confessed addict, I can say that the GT Electronics
line is a great addition to my collection."
Aspen Pittman, industry veteran, comments on the similarity between vintage
microphones and the new GT Electronics mics. "From the beginning,
our philosophy has been to learn from the past. We're convinced that the
traditional manufacturing approach delivers the best sounding products.
The GT Electronics line is constructed in the classic fashion: precision
mic capsules assembled by hand, tightly matched top-of-the-line components,
and an unwavering commitment to quality."
While vintage mics will always be used, producers and engineers are finding
the GT Electronics AM Series microphones right at home with their vintage
counterparts. All microphones in the GT Electronics AM Series are the
result of a collaborative effort between Alesis and long-time vacuum tube
manufacturer and microphone evangelist, Aspen Pittman. Alesis acquired
microphone, amplifier, and signal processing technologies of Aspen Pittman's
Groove Tubes in the third quarter of 1998 and formed a new division of
the company, GT Electronics.
Alesis Corporation manufactures a full line of professional audio and
