Q-tec Adds Euphonix System 5 for Hi-Def Post
New High-Definition Digital Console at Full-Service Tokyo Post-Production Facility

System 5 is targeted towards post-production, music recording and on-air broadcast customers that require greater than 100 channel paths of full digital signal processing
Palo Alto, Calif., August 2, 2000 -- Q-tec, a subsidiary of Pioneer Corporation, is a full-service post-production facility that handles a wide cross section of video production, on-line editorial, film-to-tape transfer and DVD authoring. The Tokyo-based complex recently ordered a System 5 High Performance Digital Post Production Console for installation during early-October. The facility already owns a Euphonix CS-2000 Digitally Controlled Analog Console housed in its second studio.

Designed to handle a wide cross section of applications, System 5 is targeted towards post-production, music recording and on-air broadcast customers that require greater than 100 channel paths of full digital signal processing. A total of 35 System 5 Digital Consoles -- "The Three-in-One Solution" -- have now been ordered.

According to sources within Q-tec, the System 5 for their MA1 Post Production Studio will be used for mixing audio material for Digital Broadcast, including High-Definition transmissions. "Key factors in the decision-making process," reports Yoshi Shimizu, Managing Director of Euphonix-Japan, "were surround-sound capabilities, and 96 kHz sample rates, because they are the standard for DVD release."

As Q-tec president, Mr. Morimoto, explains: "System 5 is the console I have been waiting for -- and it was well worth the wait. The console is intuitive in operation, but offers the most advanced digital features and processing power built into the console's foundation. Also, we enjoy a very good reputation for outstanding sound quality from our (existing) Euphonix-equipped studio, and the CS-2000 has proved an extremely reliable, long-term product for us. It was natural for Q-tec to choose Euphonix when the time came to select a digital production console for MA1."

"We are honored that Q-tec has ordered a System 5 Digital Console," says Piers Plaskitt, Euphonix president. "Facilities around the word tell us that the combination of intuitive interface, complete reset capabilities and outstanding reliability is attracting a great deal of attention from their customers -- producers and engineers -- because it provides a fast, quickly accessible control surface."
