December 8, 2000 -- Amek is offering hands-on product demonstrations and
instruction on multichannel multiformat surround production at the Surround
2001 2nd Annual International Conference & Technology Showcase (El
Camino Room, Beverly Hills Hilton, December 8 & 9). Amek is showcasing
the Media 51 automated multiformat in-line production console and the
Pure Path range of outboard signal processors.
Media 51 is the first mid-priced console to be introduced by Amek for
over five years and features a brand new microphone preamplifier and EQ

surround sound music, broadcast, and post production, Media 51 effortlessly
handles panning and bussing for formats from four to eight channels wide,
as well as standard stereo and mono.
Media 51 is equipped as standard with Ameks Supertrue fader, switch,
and event automation, Virtual Dynamics, Recall and Visual FX. Comprehensive
monitor control functions include easy insertion of encode/decode processors,
extensive downmixing capability and stem monitoring, master Playback/Direct
(PEC/Direct) switching, and multiple solo, cut, and metering modes.
The Pure Path range of processors, designed by Amek in conjunction with
Mr. Rupert Neve, comprises the Stem Compressor, Channel in a Box (CIB),
and Driver in a Box (DIB).
· The Stem Compressor, designed to meet the demands of current
multichannel surround production, offers eight channels of digitally controlled
analog compression and limiting.
· The CIB comprises separate microphone and line preamps, high-
and low-pass filters, four band EQ and a fully featured compressor.
· The DIB features eight separate Line In/Line Out transformer
coupled amplifiers, each with a switchable insert point, and is suited
to a variety of audio engineering tasks, including signal distribution.
