Alto, Calif., December 12, 2000 -- Digidesign, a division of Avid Technology,
has announced that Full Sail Real World Education, the nation's largest
educational center for creative media technology, has chosen Digidesign
Pro Tools as the core audio workstation technology in its digital audio
curriculum. The recent installation of a new Pro Tools lab at Full Sail's
digital media training center near Orlando, Florida, marks the first of
three phases in the school's plan to advance the role of Digidesign technology
in its training programs. The installation features six new Pro Tools digital audio workstations, valued at over $500,000. "These systems represent the ultimate in digital recording, editing and mixing for the music, film and broadcast industries," said Darren Millar, Full Sail's Director of Industry Relations. "Our mission is to train students on equipment that will be in the studios of the future, and we're doing that by investing in Digidesign technology." Digidesign's alliance with Full Sail underscores the company's commitment to education in the audio industry. "Partnerships with forward-looking institutions like Full Sail can only benefit the industry as a whole," said John Rechsteiner, VP of Sales and Marketing at Digidesign. "We're delighted to be working with Full Sail to make our industry-standard tools available to the next generation of audio engineers and producers." Full Sail, with its state-of-the-art 210,000-square-foot facility, 37 studios and 20 classrooms is recognized internationally for its quality degree programs and well-prepared graduates. "About 1000 students enroll each year in Full Sail's Recording Arts and Show Production programs," according to Tammy Gilbert, Vice President of Placement at Full Sail, "and over 80 percent of those students secure entertainment industry jobs after graduation." Millar said, "A solid foundation in Pro Tools is an essential part of our students' preparation. While attending Full Sail, they log a minimum of 225 hours in Pro Tools training, with about two-thirds of those hours invested in hands-on labs."
