Melbourne, Australia, December 15, 2000 -- ARX is proud to introduce the e-pre - the microphone pre-amp for hard disk recording, designed by audio professionals, not computer engineers. This product presents a new way of looking at how we bring audio in to the computer.

The e-Pre utilises a studio quality microphone pre-amp, with switchable on board 48V Phantom Power, Balanced Mic & Line level input with upto 60dB of Gain, Contour EQ control and Output level Control to allow matching of -10dB through to +4dB Soundcards in an easy-to-use consumer/prosumer package.

Designed to slot in to a spare 5" slot in your PC, the e-Pre can equally work as a stand-alone unit external to a computer or other recording / storage device.

Fitted with multiple output connectors including mini jack, standard jack, RCA (phono)plugs and a MPC3 connector to link to the internal CD Rom audio input of Soundcards, the e-Pre needs no external Power Supply, we've fitted a DC socket for powering from the Computer Power Supply, for remote use there's also a 12VDC plug pack input.

It has controls for:
  • Input Gain - fully variable from 10dB through to 60dB to suit all types of microphones, plus switchable 48 V Phantom Power to enable condenser microphones to deliver their best.
  • A Contour control for EQ sweetening, providing fast, easy access to a whole range of useful EQ curves.
  • Output level control - fully variable to match the e-pre's output to the input of the sound card. From -10dB consumer cards through to +4dB for professional sound cards, the e-pre can handle it.
