Dynamics DB500s Expounder To Be Distributed by Wave Distribution |
|||
The CLM DB500s Expounder is not just a conventional equalizer capable of both surgical precision and extreme creativity. It is also an adaptive equalizer which responds dynamically to the program material, to provide a degree of control and enhancement unavailable in any other type of equalizer. Two identical channels are provided, each with four frequency bands having considerable band overlap. In addition, Hi-Cut and Lo-Cut filters provide up to 24dB per octave slope, a feature not normally found in conventional equalizers. A comprehensive selection of bell and shelf responses, variable and widths, slopes and notches makes the Expounder one of the most powerful and versatile equalizers ever designed. But it doesn't stop there. The LF and HF dynamics sections automatically adapt the degree of boost to suit the program material, expanding the dynamic range of the selected frequencies by up to 5dB. In this way bass instruments can be given extra "punch" and high frequency detail lifted out of the mix. In addition to this amplitude-domain processing, the Hi-Cut and Lo-Cut filters permit dynamic manipulation of the frequency-domain. By means of the "Track" switch, the Hi-Cut filter allows dynamic noise filtering which is independent of the overall signal level; similarly the Lo-Cut filter performs an inverse function at the bass end of the spectrum. Using both together means that particularly noisy sources, such as guitar amplifiers and pedals, older keyboards, drum machines and expanders can be cleaned up without resorting to gating. Further creative potential is unleashed in that these filters can be given a resonant peak at their cut-off frequencies. This in combination with the automatic tracking function gives rise to unique special effects. Highly musical, low noise circuitry is employed throughout the Expounder and the audio outputs are relay-switched to avoid thumps at power-on and power-off. The Expounder has received extremely positive reviews in the leading professional audio publications of the UK, AUDIO MEDIA (October 1999), STUDIO SOUND (February 1999), SOUND ON SOUND (November 1999), as well as MIX MAGAZINE (May 1999), in the USA. The Expounder's US Suggested List Price is $1,999.00. CLM Dynamics was formed in 1995 and is dedicated to the development of new and exciting techniques for the professional recording industry. CLM's first-hand approach to design, as studio users themselves, has led CLM Dynamics to some radical lateral-thinking in order to obtain the results the industry was looking for. For example the latest signal processing products combine studio quality circuitry with all the versatility and power of synthesizer architecture. All of CLM's products are based on the finest sounding analog circuitry designed by world-class audio engineers. CLM Dynamics' products use only the best components, are all hand-built to last and all CLM Dynamics' products are backed by a three year warranty. Wave Distribution will be exhibiting at the 2001 NAMM Expo, booth 6627, Hall A.
