Los Angeles, Calif.,
October 11, 2000 -- Antares Audio Technologies today announced that their
Antares Microphone Modeler has won the TEC (Technical Excellence and Creativity)
Award in the category of Outstanding Technical Achievement in Signal Processing
Software.

The TEC Awards were established by MIX magazine in 1985 to honor outstanding
achievement in the professional recording and sound production industry.
They are currently administered by the Mix Foundation for Audio Excellence.
The nominees are selected by a panel of approximately 200 audio industry
professionals. The award winners are selected by a vote of Mix Magazine
readers.
The Microphone Modeler, which is available in versions compatible with
virtually every computer-based professional digital recording platform,
uses Antares's patented Spectral Shaping Tool (SST) technology to provide
digital models of a wide variety of microphones, from historical classics
to modern exotics. The user simply tells Microphone Modeler what microphone
they are actually using and what mic they would like it to sound like.
The plug-in then references the stored models of both the source and target
mics and processes the input to create the sound of the desired mic.
"We are tremendously honored by this award," said Stephen Tritto,
Antares President and CEO. "While the Microphone Modeler has been
acknowledged as a tremendous technical achievement by the market as a
whole, the readers of Mix in particular represent the highest level of
recording experience and expertise. Its selection by so knowledgeable
a group of industry professionals is extremely gratifying."
The TEC Award winners were announced at a ceremony during the 109th Audio
Engineering Society Convention in Los Angeles, California.
