Native Instruments Presents the SPEKTRAL Series
The first real-time, FFT-based audio effects for Mac und PC

San Jose, Calif., September 29, 2000 -- Other than conventional effects, SPEKTRAL Series effects operate on the spectral representation of the audio signal. By a Fourier Transformation the signal is divided in up to 512 frequency bands, of which each can be manipulated individually in realtime.

The graphical interface of the SPEKTRAL Series allows an intuitive approach. Results can be obtained interactively without prior theoretical knowledge.

The first plug-in of the series is the SPEKTRAL Delay

The SPEKTRAL Series opens a huge potential of new ways to transform and create sounds. The range of applications extends from targeted manipulations on singular instrumental parts to radically innovative sound design.

All effects of the SPEKTRAL Series run as a standalone-application and as VST-plug-in on PC and MAC platforms and can be controlled via MIDI in all their parameters.

The SPEKTRAL Delay allows the user to delay each frequency band of the audio signal independently with input attenuation filter, feedback and with the possibility to apply unique modulation effects. The SPEKTRAL Delay provides the following functions:

Input-Amplitude-Matrix:
This graphical editor is a way to control the attenuation of the incoming frequency domain frame. The graph offers the user the ability to change the amplitude of each frequency band individually in a range of more than 60 dB. The entire graph can be shiftet vertically and horizontally. This feature can be used to produce extraordinary filter sweeps.

Delay-Matrix / Feedback-Matrix:
Two further graphical editors allow the user to adjust the delay time and a seperate feedback percentage for each frequency band independently, allowing for truly unique audio effects and ambiences.

Modulation LFO:
An LFO associated with a mathematical function generator allows the creation of Sinus, Square, Random, and other popular mathematical shapes to control the amplitude and delay matrix parameters.

SPEKTRAL Plug-in Interface:
The SPEKTRAL plug-in interface will allow third party developers easy access to the frequency domain information, giving a fast flexible and very simple way to implement most any musical FFT idea.
