Nashville, Tenn.,
Summer NAMM, July 21, 2000 -- Coda Music Technology today announced the
release of its much-anticipated Finale 2001 Millennium Edition, the latest
upgrade to their music notation software. Finale 2001, is being called
as the "Millennium Edition" because it is a major rewrite of
the powerful application. Its new features automatically connect Finale
users-publishers, composers, arrangers, teachers and students-to the Internet's
extraordinary distribution potential.
"Finale
2001 earned the title of Millennium Edition because it provides the tools
musicians need to publish and access print music on the Internet,"
stated Coda's John Paulson. "It automates and simplifies this process
for novices while providing incredible flexibility for experienced professionals.
Teachers can easily publish exercises for their students while composers
can publish music for profit. To aid Internet downloads, Finale 2001 file
sizes have been reduced to 30% of past versions. Combined with the newly
integrated music scanning technology, the ability to play a wind or brass
instrument and see what you played notated instantly, the new guitar fretboard
editing and other advanced features, this upgrade is a whole new program!
Even with all these new functions, the Millennium Edition is still compatible
with past versions of Finale so the world's music publishers can continue
to rely on Finale as their standard development tool."
NEW AUTOMATIC
WEB PUBLISHING
Finale's Millennium Edition provides three new commands to publish scores
on the Web right from the program:
1. Save as Web Page
creates an HTML version of the print music ready
for posting or editing with any web page editor and Finale's Viewer.
2. Post on Finale Showcase"
automatically posts Finale
2001 music files at a new exclusive Finale Web community for composers,
arrangers and educators so work can be shared-FREE.
3. Distribute on Net4Music
automatically posts the print music at
net4music.com, the leading downloadable print music Internet site, where
the music can be secured and sold via an established e-commerce system.
All three commands
allow the user to control which options are available to Web surfers:
hear the music, transpose the music, specify a different solo instrument,
print the music, save the music, etc.
NEW MIDISCAN
MUSIC SCANNING TECHNOLOGY INCLUDED
The best-selling music scanning technology, MidiScan from Musitek, is
now integrated into Finale at no additional cost. Import any TIFF file
and Finale will scan it automatically and display the music notation in
a new Finale file. Musicians with the SmartScore® music scanning product
can also import those files directly into Finale.
EXCLUSIVE MICNOTATOR
MICROPHONE-TO-SCORE ENTRY METHOD
The dream of being able to play a melody and have it automatically notated
is now reality with Finale 2001. Any wind or brass instrument can be used
to play a single-line melody into a computer microphone-Finale will accurately
notate the melody as it is played. Though MicNotator will work with most
computer built-in microphones, best results are achieved with a microphone
that clips right on or near the instrument being played, available for
a nominal charge. Finale's MicNotator is the easiest possible way to enter
notes-and it's fun!
EASIEST TO USE.
EASIEST TO LEARN. MOST POWERFUL.
Expanded Set-Up Wizards, a new "point-and-click" selection tool,
Quick-Start Video training, a new Fretboard Creator and many more new
upgrade features have been provided, all with the goal of making the distance
between a musician's inspiration and notation as short as possible.
FINALE FAMILY
OF PRODUCTS SHARE FILES
Finale ($275 suggested academic/$545 suggested retail) shares files with
the same or later versions of PrintMusic! ($69.95 suggested retail)
and Allegro® ($199 suggested retail), Coda's entry-level and mid-range
level notation products. Furthermore, all files are cross-platform and
work with Windows and Macintosh computers. This is particularly attractive
for students who use Finale at school and want to use a more economically
priced product of their own at home or in the dorm. The feature sets in
each product are more limited as the price goes down, but many first-time
notation customers find these products perfect to start with. As their
notation requirements increase, they can easily upgrade to the next level
of product with more advanced features.
