Kind of Loud Technologies Announces New Plug-ins for Pro Tools
RealVerb stereo reverberation plug-ins plus the development of two 5.1 encoder software packages

Santa Cruz, Calif., June 16, 2000 -- Kind of Loud Technologies has released RealVerb stereo reverberation plug-ins for Pro Tools TDM and Digidesign's 001 format, RTAS.

RealVerb is a high-quality reverb with the unique ability to morph room shape, size and texture, giving users creative control over their sound. The morphing and blending tools function in real-time, with no pops, clicks, or distortion. In addition, Kind of Loud, specialists in surround sound software, applied their patented spatial technology to RealVerb, which allows users to pan within the stereo spectrum.

"It is time for new reverb technology in the DAW marketplace.  Reverb is arguably the most-requested software addition to hard disk recording. We have developed a product that produces stunning sound while giving the customer even greater creative control - at a tremendous value," said Suz Howells, VP Marketing and Sales.

RealVerb is available now through the Kind of Loud worldwide reseller network, which encompasses most Pro Tools and Digi 001 dealers. RealVerb/RTAS is available for $295 MSRP; RealVerb/TDM is $695 MSRP.

SmartPan Pro 5.1
Kind of Loud Technologies also announced today the development of two 5.1 encoder software packages for Digidesign's Pro Tools Digital Audio Workstation. SmartCode Pro will be available in both Dolby Digital and DTS Kind of Loud Technologies provides a complete suite of surround production tools to allow Pro Tools users to mix in 5.1 surround. SmartPan Pro is a panning plug-in that brings true discrete 5.1 surround panning to the Pro Tools platform. In February, the company shipped its groundbreaking RealVerb 5.1 Surround Reverb for Pro Tools - the first surround reverb on the market in any form. Tweetie, a monitoring and calibration plug-in and Woofie, a bass management plug-in, are critical utilities necessary in professional surround production.   SmartCode Pro completes the suite of surround software that allows Pro Tools users to record edit and encode their surround mixes completely within the Pro Tools environment. Until now, Pro Tools users have had to rely on costly dedicated hardware to encode their 5.1 mixes; to date there are few software encoders and none designed for Pro Tools.

"Pro Tools users are known to be 'early adopters' of new technologies and not surprisingly, they have sought 5.1 encoding/decoding software for some time," said Suz Howells, VP Marketing and Sales for Kind of Loud. "With SmartCode Pro, Digidesign's customers will have the technology to create and encode 5.1 mixes entirely within Pro Tools," she added.

SmartCode Pro is an AudioSuite program that allows Pro Tools users to preview in real time 5.1 mixes created by the Pro Tools software and the SmartPan Pro plug-in; then encode and decode the mix to create a 6-channel surround master. SmartCode Pro/Dolby Digital ($995 MSRP) and SmartCode Pro/DTS ($1995 MSRP) are expected to ship Q3, 2000. Kind of Loud Technologies will sell both products through its worldwide resellers network and via its web site, www.kindofloud.com.
