Madison, Wisc., March
27, 2000 -- Sonic Foundry, Inc., a developer and marketer of digital media
and Internet software tools, services, and systems, announced that its
ACID Pro 2.0 music creation software was used by Oscar music producer
David Was to create the musical underscore for the 2000 Oscar nomination
announcements during last night's Oscar telecast. The 2000 Oscar ceremony
is the first to use this technology-based musical platform in place of
a traditional orchestra.
"Because this was the first year that the Oscar ceremonies employed
new media musical formats, I wanted to use a tool that combined a powerful
and creative platform with high-productivity," stated David Was,
Oscar music producer. "Sonic Foundry's ACID Pro 2.0 allowed me to make
distinctive, unique music with incredible speed and ease. The producers
were blown away! ACID Pro and other Sonic Foundry software will be used
for many more of my musical projects. Believe that!"
"This is an exciting landmark for our ACID software," stated Jeff
Conover, vice president of marketing for Sonic Foundry, "We are
honored that David Was, a truly accomplished producer, used ACID Pro for
the Oscars and will use our other software products for his upcoming audio
projects. This highlights our position as the leading provider of software
tools for the creation, editing, and delivery of audio."
