Mac Design Conference Awards 15 Student Scholarships Students to attend the Mac Design Conference & Expo free. (May 11, 2004)

The second annual Mac Design Conference & Expo is proud to announce the selection of 15 students as winners of its 2004 scholarship program. The scholarship program provides full-time students the opportunity to attend the Mac Design Conference & Expo, a three-day training event taught by industry experts in Macintosh and design. Awarded students also receive a one-year subscription to Mac Design Magazine. The value of the scholarship awarded to each student is $500.

?One of the most rewarding parts of the Mac Design Conference & Expo is the scholarship program,? says Dave Moser, chief operating officer of KW Media Group, the parent company of Mac Design Magazine and conference host. The nominated students are so exceptionally bright and creative we felt strongly that this year?s scholarship program be expanded to award 15 students versus 10 as announced earlier. The group chosen will spend three days learning from Macintosh and design pros, mingling with peers and talking about the world of design at one of biggest Mac conferences in the east this year,? added Moser.

The scholarship program required educators from accredited learning institutions ? colleges, universities, high schools, etc. ? to nominate students they believe show great promise and an eagerness to learn. Nominations arrived from across the U.S. and Canada. The student?s nominated are pursuing graphic design, journalism, visual arts, technical communications, and photography as their field of study.

Schools whose students were awarded a scholarship include:
Alabama--University of Alabama
Canada--University of Saskatchewan
Florida--Florida Metropolitan University
Illinois--Loyola University Chicago, College of DuPage, Medill School of Journalism, Northwestern University and University of Illinois at Chicago
Indianapolis--University of Indianapolis
Mississippi--Mississippi State University & Truman State College
Virginia-- Tidewater Community College
Wisconsin--Madison Area Technical College & University of Wisconsin, Stout

Content Insider #148 - The iGen
NO...Doesn't have a thing to do with "that" smartphone...or "that" store...or "that" tablet. It's the next generation. Kids and we mean little kids. That's what today's products are being designed for/targeted at. You happen to buy one...fine. Watch a little, little kid pick up a smartphone. He/she just uses it. They've come pre-wired and we're still trying to figure out how to IM. It's the IGen. They want it instantly. They want to use it instantly. They expect their photos, their video, their music, their stuff immediately when/where/how they want it. Read More

Insider #149 - Game Demographics
The blood, gore, adrenalin challenges that were unveiled at E3 and enjoyed at ComicCon are fun to look at, easy to hold but are they really the games people want to plunk down their credit cards to own or rent time with? Seems as though the investors, the players who control the controllers have a different idea of a "good" game than the kids who develop them. While mobs of people play educational, informational, stimulating games our kid huddles in his room and mumbles "The Few, The Proud, The Gamers." Read More
