117th AES Convention Technical Tours Schedule Announced Highlights include: Skywalker Sound, Fantasy Studios & Electronic Arts (September 29, 2004)

Maximizing the proximity of one of the world?s most advanced high-tech communities, 117th AES Convention Technical Tours Chair Larry the O has coordinated an extraordinary series of behind-the-scenes visits.

?Larry should be doubly commended for his work on this year?s tours,? remarked Convention Chair John Strawn. ?In addition to his inspired site recommendations, he employed admirable diplomatic skills in convincing the management of these extremely private facilities to open their doors to AES Convention attendees. We are confident that these illuminating tours will be Convention high points for all participants,? Strawn concluded. The 117th AES Convention is being held at SF?s Moscone Center, Oct. 28 ? 31, 2004.

Thursday, October 28, KQED ? PUBLIC BROADCASTING RADIO & TV STATION: This venerable PBS flagship station continues to set precedents in both programming and technology. Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of its initial ?educational TV? broadcast, KQED first began digital broadcasting in 2000. The tour will include the stations radio and television facilities (9:00 am ? 1:00 pm).

Thursday, October 28, ELECTRONIC ARTS ?COMPUTER GAMES: The world?s largest computer game developer, Electronic Arts earned nearly $4 billion in revenues last year. The AES tour of the company?s Redwood City headquarters includes one of the company?s larger development studios. AES visitors will view and discuss production suites, recording studios and other technical areas. (1pm ? 5 pm)

Saturday, October 30, SKYWALKER SOUND: The world-famous George Lucas audio post-production complex, has produced some of the most successful films ever made including: Several Star Wars episodes, Forrest Gump, Terminator 2 and Jurassic Park. Internationally recognized as the personification of the term ?state of the art,? Skywalker Sound is rarely accessible to outside visitors. (1 pm ? 5 pm)
